- SFAI U15 Inter-League
Wicklow vs Kilkenny
The lads were well beaten by Kilkenny in Arklow Yesterday.  Report below.
Kilkenny claimed their first Group B win in the SFAI U15 Inter-League competition as they overpowered Wicklow.
The Cats led 5-1 at the end of the first half on the all-weather at Travers Insurances Park in Arklow on Sunday evening.
Two early scores in three minutes paved the way for the visitors to pick up the points.
Following a 5-1 loss to the NECSL but a 2-1 triumph over Wexford, the Marble County outfit led when Padraic Meany (9) and Sean Dempsey (11) netted
After losses away to NECSL (5-0) and Dundalk (3-0) at home, the Blue’s pulled one back through Daire de Hora’s superb 20th minute solo effort.
But the away side’s response was swift. Matias Quaglia headed in on 21. Paddy Grace grabbed a fourth in the 33rd minute following a corner before turning provider for Meany moments later.
The game became disjointed after the interval. But Kilkenny regained their groove in the latter stages.
Substitute Aaron McCormack notched a sixth just after the hour mark.
He then won a 62nd minute which was converted by Andrejs Kirolovs.
Sub Paddy Purcell got in on the act in the 67th minute with a superb long range strike.
Dempsey rounded off matter’s seconds later with his second goal of the contest.
Wicklow will finish the Group campaign away to Wexford next month.
